The dancing is still killing me.
But damn is it awesome. You snobs out there that hate pop won’t be happy with any of this at all…but I probably think you’re kind of (or really) lame for that (and probably other things), so I guess we’re even. Cuz this stuff is the shit. Hell, next week I’ll probably be in the mood for some avant classical, but it’s almost summer and I’m taking a road trip to la California in like a month and it’s going to be sweet as hell and I really just want to listen to catchy grooves right now. And so what if some of them just happen to be popular? That’s probably a good thing, eh? The world and its residents aren’t quite as shitty and horrid as you supposed they were. You should be relieved…unless you’re a super douche.
Now go get in your cute underwear (or whatever you feel happy in, I guess), put in some ear buds (I prefer huge plush headphones in all other situations but with dance music I prefer to feel like I’m being fucked by the music…and in-ear headphones kind of fuck your ears by design, so…oh golly gee whiz, did I just say that?), and dance your fucking hearts out all goofy (or sexy, if you’re lucky) like. You won’t regret it.
Here’s a playlist of mine you can steal for your antics (Click the tape to access the awesomeness).
A few quick (and I mean mega quick, folks) guidelines: I’m madly in love with Futuresex/Lovesounds right now (a recent and unexpected development, but fuck, it makes me want to have sex like nothing else and it’s catchy as all get out…and seriously, fuck off if you’re not down with that). I have a huge ol’ crush on Kelis and will probably be writing a blog later on about that. If you don’t own Night Ripper you need it right now. “Body Language” is sweet and the video’s one of the most hysterical things I’ve ever seen (watch it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqLyjg-klhE). My hips are absolutely exhausted from shaking and jutting around to “Loaded” (hell yeah) and “Three Girl Rhumba” (mmm, yes) and “Five Troubles Mambo” (Lizzy!). I love how Luda’s rap doesn’t really fit into “Oh” but I really adore both it and Ciara’s vocals on the rest of the song (her best, in my opinion)…so really, it’s like two sweet songs for the price of one and that’s always cool in my book. I hadn’t thought about “Like a Feather” in eons and then I caught the sample on Girl Talk’s “Friday Night” and remembered how funky the beat was (I saw the video a ton back in the days of high school and MTV) and it’s a nice one to dance sluttily to (you can try not to…but I’m not sure how successful you’ll be with that). WARNING: this is an explicit list, almost all thanks to Plastic Little (I take my rap quite dirty, thank you). Oh and Amanda Blank’s one of the coolest chicks ever (she and Kelis are my best gal pals). “Jane” tends to put me in the best mood ever (and you should go watch Wet Hot American Summer if you want to continue that mood). And the inclusion of a way cool Creation song means this freaking list spans five decades, bitches. I know, I’m mighty impressed too.

I think I may have thrown my neck out dancing to your amazing muxtape. That and the whiplash caused by me whipping my neck around to catch you dancing in front of the mirror. It is a rare and valuable site, babes.
